Inspiration Tuesday

Jim Geduldick

Tue, Jun 24, 2008

This one might be a little biased since I have been skateboarding for 19 years . This gem of inspiration comes from DVS Shoes /Podium Distribution with direction/filming/VFX by Colin Kennedy and Bucky Fukumoto. You can get the download to DVS  High Quality  content direct from there iTunes streams located HERE. Not only have skateboarders been breaking all types of barriers in Art,Music,Cinematography, business and pretty much every medium ,skateboarding keeps you young .(inside and out) There are some amazing talents out there like Ty Evans, Jason Hernandez, Spike Jonze to name just a few who are pushing cinematography in skateboarding and movies. So enjoy this nice spot by Colin and Bucky/DVS crew.

Several years back I saw a cool magazine ad (Thrasher I believe) where the cameraman stood still and took pictures over an hour or two while Koston skated.. So you had like 20 Koston’s in a this giant panoramic. — This is the next level of that…

ah yes this sounds like the old 20 shot probably by Atiba years back .

I meant to post this as soon as I found it on Jess Gibson’s site Jess Gibson.com but I was lazy .For those not in the snowboard/skateboard world Jess was one of the ROBOT FOOD team who made some amazing snowboard videos with even better soundtracks and amazing filming.(Afterlame is forever on my iPhone vid playlist)

Anyway this video with Aaron Draplin is best summed up by watching it .WARNING TO THE KIDDIES .THIS DOES HAVE A FEW F*** BOMBS DROPPED.

I love this music video and I’m surprised I’ve never posted about it before. I was reminded of it this morning and thought I should share.

You never know when you might need that point and shoot or the little ability to use the movie record but this video shows why in today’s world carrying your camera can catch some amazing things.

Tom Guilmette happens to shoot the Red Sox’s for a living and he does so with some pretty monstrous gear. Tom has a nice little Vimeo page with a run down of the big Sony HDC-910 he uses. Check out the zoom rocker on this thing its faster then Flash Gordon.

Tom is also a proud owner of a Sony EX-1 and a Letus 35mm adapter which I have as well for my HVX-200.Nate(my blog partner in crime) has been a long time user of the Red Rock kit which is another great choice when looking for  35mm adapter . Here is the HD link and little story on Tom’s Vimeo page Tom\’s HD Vimeo page

Speaking of cleaning up some dust here on the blog after a nice warning from Google someone had slipped something into the blog here is a nice little reminder what not to do with your new HD camera. After you watch this you have to think DUH I WOULD HAVE KNOWN TO COVER THE CAMERA UP SOME WAY.
