I have been using Imaginner systems software like Mokey,Monet,Motor,Mocha and the Shake plug ins for about 2 years now and they make you never want to look at point trackers again .So as some emails have hinted from the company NAB 2008 looks to be a big showing for the new M in the mix Mogul a system and desktop based solutions.

Systems-based

• mogul/serve is a server for shared storage environments that tracks all digital assets and associated metadata. 
•         mogul/browse is the browser that taps into mogul serve. mogul/browse is a cross-platform application giving access to all media and metadata for every station                   connected to mogul/serve and provides powerful search functions to locate this media and track its progress.
• mogul/review is a disk based playback and review system with tools for quality control and making notes. The player is resolution independent and can be used as a              standalone solution or in conjunction with mogul/serve
•         mogul/master is a fully featured finishing system with I/O, 3D compositing, editing and grading tools all seamlessly integrated.
• mogul/traffic is a dedicated I/O system with capture, layback, encoding and job duplication on a dedicated workstation.

Desktop Solutions

• mogul/roto is rotoscoping tool leveraging Imagineer’s planar tracking technology
•         mogul/paint is a 3D vector based paint system based on mogul’s 3D engine
• mogul/comp is a node based compositing app for true 3D compositing with support of OpenFX plug-ins and Python scripting.

Pricing & Availability

- All products to be offered for monthly subscription only.- mogul/serve, mogul/browse and mogul/review will be available at NAB. Other products expected to be rolled out over the next 18 months. - mogul/review (estimated cost): $1,200 per month. - mogul/serve and mogul/browse (estimated cost with 10 browse licenses): $3,500 per month.

Ian Bloom the man behind REDTrip and Redhax has just come out with a new tool for Red users called Crimson.

“Crimson Workflow™ is a tool for transforming sequences created in popular Non-Linear Editing Software, such as Final Cut Pro, Avid and Premiere. It allows proxies, and offline material to be replaced by higher quality material, by efficiently managing the use of two software products distributed by the Red Digital Cinema Camera Company, namely Redline and Redcine.Crimson Workflow™ leverages many tools for troubleshooting less than perfect metadata and file structures giving the user tools to properly reconnect to original material. It also facilitates the use of Redcine after, rather than before editing a project.”

“Crimson Workflow™currently works on Macintosh computers and supports XML sequences from Final Cut Pro. I am planning support for Avid and Adobe Premiere in the near future. I am also planning a Windows version that will be sold separately.“The price is set at $189.99 and Ian also states of features to come on the main page.You can try it out with some restrictions .You cannot currently import color data from Redcine because it does not yet export this information. The code is already written into Crimson but disabled to prevent confusion.It is likely that significant changes in Redcode from build 16 may have an effect on Crimson. No complaints here, keep up the good work Red! But do expect some delays if I need to rebuild.Crimson can roundtrip an XML or EDL file, but it cannot and may never take an XML from one application and convert it to an XML from another application. 

If you have this need, I would suggest purchasing Automatic Duck.If a windows version of Crimson is released, do not expect your serial number from your Mac version to transfer over. You will need to purchase a new serial number.Future updates of Crimson will limit the number of machines you can install the software on with one serial number. For now: have a ball but remember you are legally bound not to distribute your serial number, and said serial number is bound to your name.

My buddy Shane Ross over at Little Frog in High Def has some nice bit of news for all of us Editors and any one working in broadcast .
