A new update is available through software update.   from apple support site:

About Pro Application Support 4.0.1This update improves general user interface reliability for Apple’s professional applications and is recommended for all users of Final Cut Studio, Final Cut Pro, Motion, Soundtrack Pro, DVD Studio Pro, Aperture, Final Cut Express HD, Soundtrack, Logic Pro and Logic Express.”   

A pretty general comment from Apple. What exactly does this do?  Hopefully it is intended to fix all the issues surrounding Studio 2 and the QT 7.2 update. I guess I don’t see Apple saying, “This update corrects our previous mistakes.  Sorry, we fucked up.” 

My intel machine has had no problems (knock on wood) with the recent updates, however my Power PC G5 has had major issues. I just ran the update on the Power PC machine and surprisingly it seems to have made some difference.

All my Studio 2 apps were previously crashing out on open, now with the exception of Compressor, they all at least open up. It’s somewhat refreshing. I’m a little concerned that Compressor is still crashing out every time I open it. I’m sure a reinstall will fix it, no just getting around to doing it is another story.I’ll run the update on my intel machine later, but as there has been no issue on that machine to this point I don’t anticipate any changes in that.
