This is a re do of a screen capture my buddy Aharon Rabinowitz did at the last AENY user group meeting we run in NYC. Great way of recreating a water simulation in After Effects without any plug ins.
Check out the AENY Vimeo page and Aharon’s website .
Peter Krin at CDM posted something I caught last week but posted some more details on this tech preview of 3D Video Stabilization which will be shown at Siggraph 2009 this year.
We describe a technique that transforms a video from a hand-held video camera so that it appears as if it were taken with a directed camera motion. Our method can adjust the video to appear as if it were taken from nearby viewpoints, allowing for 3D camera movements to be simulated. By aiming only for perceptual plausibility, rather than accurate reconstruction, we are able to develop algorithms that can effectively recreate dynamic scenes from a single source video. Our technique first recovers the original 3D camera motion and a sparse set of 3D, static scene points using an off-the-shelf structure-from-motion system. Then, a desired camera path is computed either automatically (e.g., by fitting a linear or quadratic path) or interactively. Finally, our technique performs a least-squares optimization that computes a spatially-varying warp from each input video frame into an output frame. The warp is computed to both follow the sparse displacements suggested by the recovered 3D structure, and avoid deforming the content in the video frame. Our experiments on stabilizing challenging videos of dynamic scenes demonstrate the effectiveness of our technique.

720p High Definition: [ 1280 X 720 ] The 720p Version is ideal for SD and 720p work but many of the elements work great with 1080i projects as well. Especially effects like muzzle flashes and bullet holes, which are generally smaller in the frame.
This is a pretty cool website starting out co founded by Natalie Portman and a friend Christine Aylward lots of behind the scenes interviews with actors, directors, screenwriters and more. Two of my favorites so far have to be Richard Kelly(Hell ya Donnie Darko) and Michele Goundry.(Weird thing the embeds from their page dont work). It has alot of good interviews worth the time and adding this to your bookmarks. Making OF website
MakingOf is a behind-the-scenes Web destination, founded by Natalie Portman and Christine Aylward, that provides an intimate, fresh look the process of creating entertainment by the insiders themselves. Our mission is to champion the art and craft of entertainment creation. We started MakingOf because we realized that so much of what goes into entertainment creation is unavailable to the people who love and consume it the most. We wanted to give fans a way to experience that creation and learn from the insiders and thus MakingOf was born. When you visit MakingOf you will experience behind-the-scenes content, exclusive access to industry insiders, and an interactive, entertainment-focused community forum. It is your all-access pass to learn from and interact with actors, directors, producers, writers, and more. Film school for everyone! And film is just the start. I meant to post this as soon as I found it on Jess Gibson’s site Jess Gibson.com but I was lazy .For those not in the snowboard/skateboard world Jess was one of the ROBOT FOOD team who made some amazing snowboard videos with even better soundtracks and amazing filming.(Afterlame is forever on my iPhone vid playlist)
Anyway this video with Aaron Draplin is best summed up by watching it .WARNING TO THE KIDDIES .THIS DOES HAVE A FEW F*** BOMBS DROPPED.
You never know when you might need that point and shoot or the little ability to use the movie record but this video shows why in today’s world carrying your camera can catch some amazing things.
Tom Guilmette happens to shoot the Red Sox’s for a living and he does so with some pretty monstrous gear. Tom has a nice little Vimeo page with a run down of the big Sony HDC-910 he uses. Check out the zoom rocker on this thing its faster then Flash Gordon.
Tom is also a proud owner of a Sony EX-1 and a Letus 35mm adapter which I have as well for my HVX-200.Nate(my blog partner in crime) has been a long time user of the Red Rock kit which is another great choice when looking for 35mm adapter . Here is the HD link and little story on Tom’s Vimeo page Tom\’s HD Vimeo page
Speaking of cleaning up some dust here on the blog after a nice warning from Google someone had slipped something into the blog here is a nice little reminder what not to do with your new HD camera. After you watch this you have to think DUH I WOULD HAVE KNOWN TO COVER THE CAMERA UP SOME WAY.
